Thomas Novak

A member of the New England Conservatory administration since 2001, Thomas currently serves as Interim President, as well as Provost and Dean of the College at NEC, having previously held positions of Director of Admissions and Assistant Provost.  In addition to his administrative roles, he is on the faculty in the Chamber Music Department, as well as the Woodwind Department of the Preparatory School.  Prior to his time in Boston, Thomas was an active chamber and freelance musician in New York for 10 years, including as a former member of Quintet of the Americas, with whom he made his Carnegie Hall debut in 1992 and presented concerts in Canada, Bermuda, Venezuela, Colombia, and throughout the United States.  Additional activities include participation in the Tanglewood Music Center, Round Top International Festival, and, for three consecutive summers, the Pacific Music Festival in Sapporo, Japan, for which he subsequently worked for eight years as an orchestra manager.  Thomas served as the Chair of A Far Cry’s Board from 2008-2019.
